I’ve read a very intriguing article today that I wanted to summarize for you. Basically people need to expand their thoughts surrounding exercise to include the tasks that involve movement on a daily basis. Exercise should not be narrowly viewed as that ‘time slot’ at the gym or your early walk in the morning. People really need to look at ways to incorporate more ‘movement’ into their everyday routines. Healthy Meal - Stuffed Bell Peppers

Stuffed Green Peppers are full of so many nutrients. They are an excellent, healthy meal packed with fiber. This meal does NOT need to take up much of your time…simply prepare the rice ahead of time, add a few more ingredients, stuff the peppers, and put them into your crockpot to simmer all day. Voila! A nutritious meal in NO TIME!

What I love about this meal is you are getting lots of vegetables and protein. I used black beans for protein, however you can add lean ground beef.

Clementines - A Healthy Snack

Widely available right now are scrumptious, tiny clementines. They are available from November – March. To pick them fresh…look for: shiny, bright, and orange features. They should be firm, yet leave a slight indentation when squeezed.

Clementines are an awesome source of vitamin C, fiber, folate, and potassium. A medium size fruit is only 50 calories and they are the perfect size for little hands!

Excellent as a light snack, very easy to peel…and can also be used up in salads or desserts.

I suggest you put them in a bowl so that they are VISIBLE and easy to grab!

I have to admit that just a few years ago I never gave a second thought to hormones and the impact that they have on my health and my weight. But now that I’m in my 30’s I am taking my hormone levels seriously. I’m more aware of the little things that affect my hormone levels such as stress and lack of sleep. I thought this was an interesting study to report from Boston College: “60% of the successful dieters had strong beliefs that they could handle uncomfortable situations. Their thoughts reflect a very positive and firm belief that they are in control of their eating.”
Whereas, two-thirds of the unsuccessful dieters reported worries about what other people were thinking of them.

Check-In Call

I just wanted to share a great tip with you that I find is working very well with my training clients. We have a ‘check in’ call. We set up a time to do a quick call to each other in the morning. This call is solely to let the other person know that you did your cardio. Wow, is it effective!

Once that alarm goes off in the morning, I am UP! I am ready to get going on my bike or walk because I know that someone is counting on me to do it. I know that I will be getting a call soon and I don’t want to have any lame excuses. This set up will encourage you to be accountable to a plan and motivated to prove to someone else that you did it!
